An application via the dialogue-oriented service procedure (Dialogorientiertes Serviceverfahren; DoSV) is subject to certain requirements we have summarized for you below:
1. You have got a higher education entrance qualification.
A higher education entrance qualification (Hochschulzulassungsberechtigung; HZB) recognized in Germany is the most important requirement you have to meet to take up your studies. The most known HZB in Germany is the Abitur (General Qualification for University Entrance). The most important information concerning the HZB can be found under Rules of the procedure.
2. You want to study in Germany.
The dialogue-oriented service procedure is only coordinating application processes for courses of study at German state higher education institutions. With regard to each and any concerns regarding any studies abroad, please contact the Deutschen Akademischen Austauschdienst (DAAD; German Academic Exchange Service) or the Akademisches Auslandsamt (International Office) of the German higher education institution that is cooperating with the international higher education institution of your choice.
3. You want to apply for the first term of an undergraduate course of study.
The courses offered in the dialogue-oriented service procedure of Hochschulstart include undergraduate courses of study that are subject to admission restrictions on a local basis leading to a first degree in higher education without exception. The courses offered in the dialogue-oriented service procedure of Hochschulstart include also admission-free corses of study.
Postgraduate courses of study (such as Masters Programs) are not included in the offer of Hochschulstart. Therefore, you always have to apply for these courses of study directly to the higher education institutions. Please also address applications for higher terms directly to your chosen higher education institution.
With regard to the courses of medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine and pharmacy that are subject to admission restrictions on a federal basis, you may only apply by means of the separate (central) allocation procedure of the Stiftung für Hochschulzulassung. An application for veterinary medicine, by the way, may only be made regarding the respective winter term.
